    Setting up the test

    We place your hearing aid into a calibrated test box: a small, controlled sound chamber designed to measure exactly how the device performs. No probes in the ear and nothing played to you: this test is entirely about the hearing aid itself.

  2. Step 2

    Frequency response & output testing

    The test measures how your hearing aid amplifies sound across the full range of frequencies, from low to high, and checks the maximum output the device can produce. These results are compared directly against the manufacturer's original specifications for your specific hearing aid model.

    Distortion & internal noise analysis

    EAA also checks for total harmonic distortion, which occurs when a hearing aid introduces unwanted overtones into sound, and equivalent input noise, the background noise the device itself generates. Both can affect sound quality in ways that are difficult to detect by listening to the device alone.

    Results review & next steps

    We review the findings with you in plain language. If the device is performing within specification, you have confirmation it's working as intended. If something is off, we'll identify the issue and determine whether an in-house repair or a manufacturer repair is the right course.

At Kun Hearing, we run an electroacoustic check before every fitting, so the device is confirmed to be working properly before Dr. Kun verifies your prescription in your ear, and we repeat the check at routine intervals. Not at all. EAA is performed entirely on the hearing aid itself, not in your ear. We place the device in a calibrated test box, run the measurements, and review the results with you. It's a completely passive process from your side.
